the Hunt for more.

May 18th, 2014 was my fourth sheep scouting trip of 2014.  Just before reaching my next glassing spot, it hit me, a moment in time, which I have not thought about, nor recalled, in almost 22 years.  I don’t know why, how or where it came from.  Often, I forget these moments…  Often, I am to intense and over come by my need to succeed in hunting, but today, this moment was not going away.

I set up the camera, not really knowing what I was doing, or what I was going to say.  I didn’t think it was going to get emotional.  I didn’t think this moment, which wasn’t a successful shot or the moment of glory, really meant that much.  Like many times in my life, I was wrong.

I love the challenge of guiding and hunting.  I love big animals and the meat they provide, but really, we all hunt for more than that.  When what little glory you get from taking a trophy animal is gone, it’s the moments in the mountains and the obstacles you over came, which are truly the reward.

I hope you will take 3 minutes to listen to my moment.

After reading everything and clearing my head, this moment took place on the last Friday of my hunt (day 14). The next day was the day we found and killed my ram.  I hunted every single day, with some very special people.

You can’t get the moments back.

Damn, I wish I could go back…

After a long day and 14 days of hunting, the memories are forever.

Kids get more out of hunting and life than most give credit. Hunt for more.

To read more about my hunt, I found this old newspaper article online: Craig Steele’s Desert Bighorn Sheep

I hope we can all, hunt for more.

-Thanks for reading and watching; it matters. Craig

I love your work man. I scroll through the Facebook stuff quickly but always catch myself reading your articles and watching your films. Your unique “real” approach to hunting and life are fascinating and motivating.
